Will Big Companies Pay a Digital Tax? "If We Have Nuclear Weapons"

Mariusz Błaszczak sees no chance of imposing a digital tax on large technology companies in Poland. "If we have nuclear weapons, we can introduce them," he stated in Thursday's "Gość Wydarzeń" (Guest of Events). The PiS caucus leader also said that Jarosław Kaczyński is his party's "natural candidate" for prime minister and acknowledged that the Confederation doesn't rule out a coalition with Donald Tusk's party.
Marcin Fijołek asked Mariusz Błaszczak whether a digital tax should be introduced in Poland. The Ministry of Digital Affairs is working on such a solution, which would be imposed on powerful foreign companies that pay low taxes in Poland. "If we have nuclear weapons, we can then introduce digital taxes, but we don't," replied the PiS parliamentary group leader.

When asked if this means we don't have full sovereignty, as we have to consider how Americans would aggregate such a tax—since the companies in question are mostly US-based—he replied that " we must focus on strengthening the Polish military ." "We must avoid any obstacles that would prevent, limit, or delay it," he added.
When the host pointed out that a tax on digital giants would mean a significant cash infusion for the budget, Błaszczak replied that the government should manage the current budget better. " Donald Tusk is back and there's no money again . When PiS was in power, the budget was almost balanced," he pointed out.
Jarosław Kaczyński Prime Minister? "He's a Natural Candidate"The PiS politician also spoke on Polsat News about his party's potential prime ministerial candidate in the next parliamentary elections, scheduled for 2027. "This matter will be resolved when we win the elections (...). Our leader is Jarosław Kaczyński . If he wants to be prime minister, I think he's a natural candidate for this office," he said.

When asked about a possible coalition between PiS and Konfederacja , he criticized the attitude of the group led by Krzysztof Bosak and Sławomir Mentzen , accusing it of not clearly distancing itself from Tusk, as well as of not accepting the 10 program points presented by Kaczyński.

" We're not interested in power for its own sake , because that makes no sense. You can see what's happening under Donald Tusk: they govern for the sake of ruling and for revenge. Our government's motive is to implement a program, which is why we've invited everyone who shares our vision for Poland to join the conversation and discussion," he assured.
Will there be a Confederation-Civic Coalition? Błaszczak is concerned.Błaszczak also expressed concern in "Gość Wydarzeń" about the possibility of a potential alliance between the Confederation and the Civic Coalition. "Donald Tusk poses a threat of a migration pact, centralization of the European Union and loss of sovereignty, as well as the introduction of the euro in Poland. PiS doesn't want this, therefore we rule out the possibility of a coalition with Tusk ," he emphasized.
He added that if the Confederation does not rule out cooperation with the Civic Coalition, "the question arises whether it agrees to the implementation of its program, including accepting migrants or introducing a common currency."
